Illusions On Thin Ice
|
After what seems like a very long wait to fill the hole left by our beloved boy Kai, we were excited to welcome into our pack, a special little boy from across the pond! Troy comes from Pamela & Joe Fusco's Illusion Kennel in Michigan, USA. We can't thank them enough for giving us this wonderful opportunity. We traveled over in April 2012 to collect him, and he has settled in with the girls like he's always been here.
Troy's sire, Tornado, is a boy we saw and fell in love with at the AMCA National Specialty in Ann Arbor in October 2011, where we watched him complete his WWPD title. Tornado also finished his AKC Grand Championship in 2011. Troy's dam, Rosie, is another home bred Illusion dog, herself sired by Gambler (BISS Ch/Int Ch Kasaan's Fortune Player). She finished her AKC Championship last year, just prior to becoming a Mum. Troy's pedigree goes back to the Storm Kloud's lines that we love so much. We were impressed with the working ability of the Illusion dogs, particularly in Weight Pull, and we have hopes that Troy will match up to some of his relatives achievements in years to come. He also possesses some lovely qualities having good bone, nice big tight feet, a wonderful coat, a strong top line, a beautiful head with small ears, dark oblique eyes and he has such straight, powerful movement. He is getting better and better as he matures. |
At his debut in the show ring, at just a few days short of 4 months old, he won his class at the Harrisburg Puppy Match. We couldn't have been more proud of our new baby.
He showed in the UK for a couple of years, qualifying for Crufts 2013 and 2014. Unfortunately he hasn't really taken to showing and so now enjoys trekking and hiking instead. Troy also proved to be a very clever little lad as he passed his Kennel Club Good Citizen Bronze Test at just 5 months old. Troy showed some aptitude for Weight Pull, and he also worked in harness with Chena - with her focus and drive, and his strength and power, they made a great team! They loved the distance treks and Chena helped him complete the requirements for his WTD title early on. Now that we no longer work or show the dogs, Troy enjoys more time hiking the Lake District fells which he has taken to quite naturally, allowing him to indulge in one of his true passions...sheep spotting! |

"Excellent type, very pleasing head, excellent front & bone, strong in body, good depth of chest, well let down hocks. Outline just spoilt by a too tight tail but very sound on the move."

"10mth g/white dog. Made a pleasing shape in profile with strong topline for a youngster. Balanced in front and rear angulation, well boned and in good muscle tone. Harsh coat, and lovely dark, well shaped eyes creating a typey expression. A bit naughty with his tail carriage but this didn’t spoil the balanced and efficient movement he demonstrated from every angle which ultimately won him the class. BPIB."

"Malamute with pleasing outline, head coming, reach to neck, clean front assembly, legs & feet, nicely coupled, turn to stiffle, good easy mover"

"7 months male puppy, superb topline especially for a baby boy, enough bone, beautiful head just correct for his age, evident strength but no hint of coarseness. Would prefer his tail a fraction looser. Lovely dark eye, clean straight front, correct feet, sound coming & going with super side gait, very impressive muscletone. Will watch him mature with interest. BP "
